Jaipur, Jan 28 (IANS): A 22-year-old girl who has accused a senior IAS officer of sexually exploiting her recorded her statement before a magistrate Tuesday, police said.
A first information report (FIR) was registered Saturday against B.B. Mohanty, an additional chief secretary rank officer currently posted as chairman of the Rajasthan Civil Services Appellate Tribunal.
"Police recorded the girl's statement before a magistrate under section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure today (Tuesday)," a police officer said.
Police are, however, yet to summon the Indian Administrative Service officer for questioning.
"We will first verify the allegations by gathering corroborating evidence, including mobile call details and records of some hotels where Mohanty stayed with the girl. We will then summon the accused," the officer said.
Police also seized the flat where Mohanty allegedly exploited the girl, he added.
"The girl who lives in a hostel in the city's Mahesh Nagar area approached a court, accusing Mohanty of sexually exploiting her. The court ordered police to lodge an FIR. The report was lodged Saturday," said Inspector Ramawtar.
The officer said that according to the girl, her hostel is near the IAS officer's flat.
"She said Mohanty introduced himself as a senior IAS officer last year and started exploiting her on the promise of helping her clear the IAS examination. She said the officer sexually exploited her for the first time on Feb 19 last year at his flat," he said.
