Four killed in Afghanistan bomb attacks

Kabul, Jan 30 (IANS): Two policemen and two attackers were killed in two separate suicide bombings in Afghanistan Thursday, sources said.

In one attack, a man set off his explosives-packed suicide jacket at Pul-e-Behsoud in Jalalabad, the capital of the eastern Afghan province of Nangarhar, at a little after 9 a.m., killing himself on the spot but causing no casualties, provincial police spokesman Azrat Husain Mashriqiwal told Xinhua.

The target of the attack was Fraidoon Mohmand, a member of the Wolesi Jirga or Lower House of the Afghan Parliament, as the attack took place near Mohmand's home, the spokesman said, adding no civilian was hurt in the bombing.

Earlier Thursday morning, a suicide car bomber rammed into the entrance of the police station in the Pachir Wa Agam district, south of Jalalabad city.

"The suicide car bomb was detonated in front of the police station of the district bordering Pakistan, killing two policemen and the attacker," the spokesman noted.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
