Contractor held for supplying explosives to Maoists

Bhubaneswar, Jan 30 (IANS): A building contractor was Thursday arrested in Odisha's Malkangiri district for supplying explosives to Maoists, an official said.

Samarendra Bisoi (28) alias Tinku was arrested after fifteen gelatine sticks and other explosives were found at his construction site in Marigata village, 700 km from here.

"He confessed that he had supplied explosives to the rebels five times in the past. The latest explosives were found from a site where he is building a school hostel," Inspector-in-Charge S.K. Nayak told IANS.

Maoists are active in more than half of Odisha's 30 districts. Malkangiri is considered one of their strongholds.
