Bahrain, May 19: The lively and enthralling Konkani cultural show organised by “ Konkani Kutam” in association with Karnataka Social Club attracted a huge crowd in Bishop Tirinanzi Auditorium next to Sacred Heart Church.  The “Melwyn Peres Nite” provided top quality entertainment to the audience with splendid performance from all the artists.

The “Yodelling King” of Konkani Music Melwyn Peres displayed his immense talent with magnificent performance to captivate the audience throught the programme. Anita Samson, a veteran singer in her first visit to Bahrain delighted the konkani music lovers with incredible performance.


The Ambassador of India Balakrishna Shetty presided over the function as a Chief Guest and M. N. Naik, Air India Mananger to Bahrain & Jordon and Fr. Thomas Quadros,  Parish Priest were the Guests of Honour.  The working Committee comprising of Richard Moras, Henry Almeida,  John Mascarenhas, Manu Bahrain and Ronald Fernandes were with the guests to felicitate Melwyn Peres, Anita Samson and “MEMORI” Group.



The programme started with tributes to the great Konkani artist “Mickmax” who passed away recently in Mangalore.  He was remembered with profound grief in consideration of his monolithic contribution to Konkani language. The song “Namaskar” composed by him was the first welcome dance song with the small children saluting the great legend with respect and honour.



The hilarious comedy group of Melwyn Almeida, Jerome Moras and Richard Sequeira  well known as “MEMORI” Group mesmerised the audience with humorous jokes and classic acting.

The ever active, committed and gifted local singers Sydney Correa, Richard Pais, Rony Fernandes & Muriel Gomes exhibited their talents to support Melwyn Peres  and Anita Samson.  The promising youngsters Samantha Andrade, Mischell Correa and Alma Pereira were at their best for the sentimental song “Mai Baab”.


The team of Edward Almeida, Alwyn Peres, Stany D’souza, George Menezes, Sujay Pinto, Gracy Pais & Elizabeth D’souza endorsed their eminence in acting in the skit “Militry Santhan” written by Manu Bahrain and  directed by Henry Almeida.


Priya Mascarenhas choreographed the dances to perfection well supported by Nishel and Sheetal Gomes.  “Harmonics” provided the music.

Renowned M.C. Ronald Olivera Compered the programme.
