Cuttack, May 20: Orissa government's Women and Child Development Department has moved the Orissa High Court seeking a ban on Buddhia Singh's long-distance running.
The state government has contended that the child marathon prodigy could become a case of burn out.
The five-year old's coach Biranchi Das had earlier filed a petition for contempt proceedings against the Women and Child Development Minister and the Child Welfare Committee.
Das said Buddhia had been forced into a hurriedly conducted medical test with the help of police, despite the court's order against any coercive action against the boy and his coach.
The state government has also questioned the genuineness of Buddhia's adoption by Das and his wife Gitanjali Panda, saying the modalities of the adoption needed to be examined.
Buddhia had been adopted as per a deed made in October 2005.
