New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS): A nine-year-old girl was raped by a factory worker near her house here, police said Tuesday. The accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The victim was admitted to a hospital intensive care unit but her condition was stable.
The incident took place in Bara Hindu Rao area in north Delhi Sunday evening when the girl was playing outside her home, police said.
The 25-year-old accused, Gopi, lived in same area. He lured the girl on the pretext of giving her a chocolate and raped her.
The girl was later found unconscious on a vacant plot near the house by her parents.
They informed the police and took her to the Bara Hindu Rao hospital.
Doctors said the girl underwent surgery and was shifted to the ICU. Her condition was stable but she is under observation.
Gopi was arrested Sunday night and sent to judicial custody by a city court Monday.
