Pranab hopes for speedy recovery of UAE president

New Delhi, Feb 5 (IANS): President Pranab Mukherjee has sent a 'get well soon' message to United Arab Emirates President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, who recently suffered a stroke and underwent surgery, an official release said Wednesday.

In his message, the president said: "I was deeply concerned to learn of Your Highness' recent indisposition. I do hope that you are feeling better by now and progressing rapidly on the path of recovery."

The president said that Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's contribution to the India-UAE relations "was very much valued" as it has enhanced mutual understanding and brought people of the two countries closer to each other.

"We have, together, implemented many mutually beneficial initiatives and are poised to take our relationship to a new level of trust and collaboration," Mukherjee said.

"I wish Your Highness good health and a long life and take this opportunity to convey to the people of the United Arab Emirates best wishes for their continued progress and prosperity", he added.

The UAE president had suffered a stroke last month.
