Mumbai, May 23: Sachin Tendulkar, on Tuesday, ruled himself out of the Test series against the West Indies beginning next month.
Tendulkar, who did not undergo the fitness test scheduled in Mumbai on Tuesday, informed the Board that he had not recovered from the shoulder injury completely and should not be considered for selection for the four-match series.
"We have been trying hard for the past couple of weeks and (former India physio Andrew) Leipus monitored all my training sessions. But there is still weakness in the arm. I don't think its ready for international cricket yet," Tendulkar said after the test.
The 33-year-old, who underwent a shoulder surgery in March, said it is not possible to put a time frame for recovering from such injuries. Tendulkar will leave for London to consult Dr Andrew Wallace, who operated on his shoulder.
Meanwhile, his Mumbai teammate Wasim Jaffer was declared fit and is available for selection for the West Indies Tests.
The Board added that Tendulkar will continue with his rehabilitation and training and his fitness would be reviewed after two to three weeks.
