 Karkala, May 23: “Yuva Fest – 2006” The annual gathering of ICYM unit of Karkala deanery was held on Sunday May 21 at Souharda Auditorium at Attur near here.  The youth fest was inaugurated by ICYM Mangalore central committee president Arun Ajekar.  Geo Agrar was the resource person and he delivered talk on “Love and Friendship”.

  Various cultural competitions were organized in the afternoon session.  While ICYM Nellikar unit bagged the first prize, Miyar unit stood second. 

ICYM Udupi central committee secretary Michael Sastan conducted the officiated the election for new office bearers for the ICYM deanery committee.  Arun D’Souza Nakre was elected president.

Udupi ICYM director Fr Peter Pinto presided over the valedictory ceremony.  The out-going Attur parish priest Fr Francis Cornelio and newly appointed member of Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy Vitori Karkala were honoured by Fr Peter Pinto on the occasion.


ICYM Karkala deanery director Fr Michael Lobo, Fr Melwyn D’Souza, animator Sr Roseline, ICYM Udupi central committee president Raviraj D’Souza, Edwin Mendonca and Zeena D’Almeida were also present on dais.



Edwin Mendonca welcomed the gathering and Lavina Castelino proposed the vote of thanks. Asumpta and Santhosh compered the programme.

Cultural secretary: Laila Noronha Attur
