Case against Mukesh Ambani, Moily over gas scarcity, pricing

New Delhi, Feb 13 (IANS) : The Delhi government's Anti-Corruption Bureau Wednesday filed cases against Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani and Petroleum Minister M. Veerappa Moily for allegedly creating artificial scarcity of natural gas and for fixing prices, official sources said.

A case has been registered against them and two others under the corruption prevention legislation, officials told IANS.

The development comes a day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered the bureau to file criminal cases against Ambani, Moily, former petroleum minister Murli Deora and former director general of hydrocarbons V.K. Sibal.

At a press conference Tuesday, Kejriwal said he had received complaints from some "eminent persons" who spoke about alleged collusion between some ministers and industrialists to create artificial shortage of gas and hike prices unnecessarily.

Moily has rubbished the allegation.

"We should sympathise with his (Kejriwal's) ignorance. He does not know how the government runs. Norms are followed. There is a system in fixing prices," the minister had said.

Reliance Industries too said the allegations were misplaced.

The company said Kejriwal's decision was "shocking" and termed the complaint and the allegations, on the basis of which the Delhi government has taken such action, as "completely baseless and devoid of any merit or substance whatsoever".

"We deny these irresponsible allegations and propose to resort to the available legal remedies to protect our reputation and preserve the pioneering efforts and investment made by Reliance so far," a company statement said.

A Congress spokesperson said the party was not against any kind of inquiry but it must be within the constitutional jurisdiction and not based on political vendetta. The Congress has already ruled out Moily's resignation.

Joseph Gonsalves - Bannur - please do not apply the same yardstick to all Industrialists. Tata Company, and Prem Azim of Wipro, Narayan Murthy & Nandan Nelikani of Infosys are spending Billions of rupees every year for genuine philanthropy.
Only Gujarati & Rajasthani Industrialists generally do not spend much for philanthropy. Instead, they spend that amount to purchase corrupt Politicians.

Dear Mr. Ravi B Shenava, Mangalore,

You did not come to my comment exactly. I quote: If a man is working righteously, lawfully and truthfully he cannot be a big boss.
    Unquote.
One cannot be a billionaire if he is working righteously, lawfully and truthfully.

Even Mark Zubair, Inventor of Facebook (also an out from university, (similar to Bill Gates) to accomplish facebook job) is a philanthropist and he was a largest giver in the year 2013.
We all know what Narayana Murthy has done fraud in the USA visas. Narayana Murthy is not a philanthropist and I haven't heard of his Philanthropy. He is purely a business man.
Even I didn't hear of Nilakeni's millions of philanthropy.
Most of the Indians when they give they see the balme/bolme/astrologer when to give and how to give so that the given money comes to them back to their pockets.
I have heard of Premji Azim has offered millions, but not enough.

Most Indian billionaires are crazy for wealth and finance.

..I don't know why a businessman must be a philanthropist!! he is doing business not charity..how many of us do charity? we need not to be a millionaire do philanthropy works..they are creating enough job & feeding millions indirectly even if they spend lavishly on home, IPL, Big fat wedding..even Ratan TATA during a recent visit to Manipal said he was against corporate CSR policy of Govt..you cant force a company to do charity, they have their own charitable trust & spends million which we may not know..Population growing all over the world, the country needs jobs & Pvt companies are the main source..all countries who followed once socialist, far right, communist policies, not withstanding growing populations, hence tilting towards capitalism..As per AAP, becoming rich is sin..and only who support is Aam Aadmi..who paid electricity honestly became fool, who defaulted get rewards!!

I kept on wondering if hard work sincerity luck can anyone make this rich? If so, why am I not a centimeter closer to these people?

It is high time for people to ponder upon how just being a minister or being poly to politics makes you filthy rich?

If Kejriwal does not know how the politics run, imagine the common man! AAP thinks right and I hope people get it right to question and fix the wrong doings for financial gains.

..eventhough its true that Reliance made huge profits from Gas pricing, we cannot make them villain altogether..Reliance provided millions of job, doing charity with various trust..when political parties demand party fund, they have to recover the same from other means..Corporate lobby exists all over the world, it doesnt mean that it harms everytime..unless political parties comes clean on this what corporate world can do?..files, NOC will not move unless company gives some free shares or partnership..If AAP goes on a witch hunt, Companies will vanish since now they have avenues in other countries also..INDIA shines due to private enterprise's efforts & hard work..All Govt companies become a white elephant draining treasury & burdening taxpayers..do AAP has the courage to favour disinvestment in loss making PSU & stop bleeding tax payers?

This viewpoint, though not related to the above news report, but it comes to mind....about the state of affairs!! It is really pitiable to see how the PSU banks are generously giving thousands of crores of loans to certain corporate and developers having unknown antecedents and with pittance security from them!! Read today, TOI Mumbai edition, wherein a consortium of PSU banks are trying to recover defaulted loans worth 3000 crores and it is said they may be able to recover at the most only 2% of this sum with the security kept with the banks!! The officials who sanctioned these loans are under the scanner!!

At the end the report says “Banks have a reputation of relentlessly pursuing an individual who defaults on an installment. "But for corporates and developers, banks seem to show unusual largesse as the case shows,” the source added."

This is the real India shining story, huge loans finally written off, nobody answerable, which is a loss to the taxpayer law abiding citizens of the country, which the aam admi does not know as he is busy struggling, and this is how the rich become richer and the poor poorer and poorer!! Jai Ho!!

Everybody knows that the Ambanis are bankrolling the Congress and other political party.
No wonder the Ambanis are allowed to charge higher prices and their excuse of not increasing their output is readily accepted. Looting the nation's wealth by hook or crook and leading extravagant lifestyles has been the norm of these industrialists
Hope the AAP nails the Ambanis this time because none of the other political parties have dared to touch them.

Creating scarcity and jacking up prices is a new form of looting general innocent public.
Govts are giving huge benefits to big industrialists and taking favors in return.

Be it BJP or Congress, are less focused to good governance, but heavily spending on election propaganda.

It is like giving less importance to R & D and quality in manufacturing and services and MORE on ADVERTISEMENTS.

I am reminded of an old Joke prevalent during the 1980s, which is as under:
An Arabian Sheikh, who was the richest man in the world came to India.
He was travelling by Indian Airlines plane from Mumbai to Delhi along with his secretary. When he saw the beautiful Indian Air Hostess he told his secretary as under :
Sheikh: Purchase that Air Hostess whatever may be the Cost.
Secretary: No Sir, She is the property of Indian Airlines.
Sheikh: Then Purchase Indian Airlines itself.
SEC: No Sir, it is the property of Indian Government.
Sheikh: Then Purchase Govt of India itself.
Sec: But Sir Indian government is already purchased by Ambani.

Dear Mr. Ravi B Shenava, Mangalore,

If money is given by Shaikh to Ambanies possibilities are there they may sell themselves also.

Do you think Ambani's father with his own hard labor came up with Reliance Company without deceiving people and the government???!!! I don’t think so.

NO COMPANY HAS COME UP WITH ITS OWN HARD LABOUR WITHOUT DECEIVING OR CORRUPTING THE GOVERNMENT OR THE PEOPLE.

If a man is working righteously, lawfully and truthfully he cannot be a big boss

Unless a person who invents new product like the Microsoft boss bill gates, boldly came out from the university for his new invention and now a billionaire plus a philanthropist.

We in India have billionaires and hardly have we found philanthropists that too billionaires.

    People,

Ambani's and Moily have an impeccable reputation like white snow...hope they will be able to prove their innocence this time as well and make Kejriwal to shut up....

Last time Moily proved innocence was in the JMM bribery case where Santosh Hegde was his lawyer and late PV Narasimha Rao was his co-accused....before that famous Moily tapes offering money to late Byre Gowda in 1983-85 when he was the Leader of Opposition...

We can make Dr Kamath as Amicus Curiae(Friend of Court for details Google it please) if he so desires....
