M.Tech student shot dead in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 16 (IANS): A 24-year-old M.Tech student was shot dead while his friend was injured in firing by three people following a scuffle over a trivial issue, police said Sunday.

Shivam Mishra, M.Tech student at a private college, and Sachin Dubey, who studies in another private institute, were shot at by three bikers near the Shakarpur metro station in east Delhi Saturday night.

Police said they were returning from a friend's house after having dinner. Following a minor scuffle, the accused opened fire at them and sped away on their motorcycle.

The two were taken to the Lal Bahadur Shastri hospital, where Mishra was declared dead while Dubey is undergoing treatment.

The reason behind the attack was not clear but it was a sudden provocation by the attackers, a police officer told IANS.

Police have collected footage from CCTV cameras installed outside the metro station. They have also got the registration number of the motorcycle.
