Mumbai: GSB host Pandit Bhimsen Joshi memorial musical programme

Mumbai, Feb 18: GSB Welfare Center held a Bhimsen Joshi memorial birth anniversary celebration at S V Josh hall on Sunday evening, February 16.

The programme presided by president B G Pai, was attended by social worker, businessman N N Kamath, GSB Mandira Trust's president Praveena Kanavindhe, Prabhakar Nerurkar, Subhash Kamath and GSB Sabha Mulund leader R S Pai.

Savita Prabhu lighted the lamp and set the programme in motion. Well known Tabla artiste Shashikant Mule, who has been assisting Pandit for the last four decades was felicitated with Pandit Bhimsen Joshi memorial award for the year 2014.

The programme consisted of Jugalbandi music by Deepti Shenoy and Tripti Shenoy.  Well known play back singer Yogesh Shenoy presented melodius Kannada and other music.  Youth Sitar player Ankush Nayak presented Sitar music and Arati Nayak presented Geetha Gunjana.  Manoj Acharya and Bharath Raj cooperated in Tabla, Anirudh Gosavi and Rutuja Lad in Harmonium and Prakash Prabhu in Rhythm.

Yogesh Shenoy, Vinayaka Kamath, Pundalik Pai, Geetha Kudva, Professor Venkatesh Pai and Vinay Kudva had struggled for the success of the programme.

Sowmya Pai led the prayer.  Honorary secretary Vishwanath N Bhat welcomed and gave a key note address.  Vyshali Kudva read the felicitation. Anandraya Kini compered the programme. Vishwanatha
Bhat proposed a vote of thanks.
