NDMC to set up training institute for teachers


New Delhi, Feb 18 (IANS): The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) plans to set up a training institute for primary teachers, it was announced Tuesday.

A provision of Rs.141.44 crore has been set aside for educational services by the NDMC, the smallest of three civic agencies in Delhi.

This was announced by Jalaj Shrivastava, chairman of the NDMC. He was speaking on the foundation day of the NDMC-run Navyug School.

The training institute will come up in the coming year. It will be a residential and self-sufficient institution with 24-hour canteen as well as kitchen facility.

The first Navyug School was founded in 1973 at Sarojini Nagar. Since then, NDMC has opened 10 more branches.
