French foreign minister to visit China


Beijing, Feb 18 (IANS): French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will visit China Feb 20-24 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying, announced this in a press conference Tuesday, said Fabius would meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, Xinhua reported.

This year, the two countries would hold a series of celebrations to mark the anniversary of diplomatic ties and preparations for reciprocal visits, Wang said.

It will be the second meeting between the two ministers this year.

On Jan 22, they met on the sidelines of a UN conference on Syria in the Swiss city of Montreux.
