AAP begins 'Jhadu Chalao Yatra' in Haryana

Gurgaon, Feb 18 (IANS): Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) Haryana coordinator Yogendra Yadav Tuesday kicked off the "Jhadu Chalao Yatra" across the state by holding a march through the city roads here.

The AAP's Haryana unit, intending to "clean up a corrupt system", began its four-day "Jhadu Chalao Yatra", with a march from near the Rao Mahabir Singh chowk close to the bus stand till the mini-secretariat after a short meeting.

The marchers were holding the tricolour along with the party's poll symbol - broom - on their shoulders.

The AAP workers distributed pamphlets and shouted slogans against the corrupt system during their nearly two-kilometre walk.

They later sat on dharna at the main gate of the mini-secretariat, demanding probe into corruption cases raised by the party workers.

"Deputy commissioner Shekhar Vidyarthi met our delegation. He assured us action against police officer Narender Singh and Youth and Sports Minister Sukhbir Kataria, booked for bogus voting during the 2009 assembly polls," AAP's Ramesh Yadav told IANS.

"Three FIRs have been registered against Kataria and ACP Narender Singh in the city police station. But accused Singh is still holding the post (of ACP City) even months after the FIR against him," Vidyarthi was told.

Nine cases relating to bogus voting are pending against Kataria in different district courts. The FIRs were registered following a court order.

"As part of the campaign, party members and supporters will form groups in their respective areas in the state. They will stage march in different colonies throughout the day and even late in the evening sporting our poll symbol and distributing pamphlets," Yadav said.

"During the yatra, forms will also be filled to enroll new workers into the party fold," he added.

After four days of campaigning across the state, party chief Arvind Kejriwal will address a state-level rally in Rohtak Feb 23. Rohtak is the home town of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
