Guidelines being developed for educational institutions' ranking


New Delhi, Feb 19 (IANS): The government has undertaken a project to develop guidelines and parameters for the ranking of higher educational institutions, parliament was told Wednesday.

"The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has undertaken a project to develop guidelines and parameters for the ranking of higher educational institutions," Minister of State for Human Resource Development Shashi Tharoor told the Lok Sabha in a written reply.

NAAC, tasked with assessing and accrediting institutions of higher education in India, was established in 1994 in response to recommendations of National Policy in Education.
