Sydney, Feb 21 (IANS): An eight-year-old girl died after being struck by a falling tree branch in the playground of a primary school in Australia, police said Friday.
A male teacher, a five-year-old kindergarten girl and her seven-year-old brother were also injured when the large branch fell on them at Pitt Town Public School in Sydney's northwest around 1.15 p.m. Friday, Xinhua reported citing the police.
The eight-year-old girl was taken to Westmead Children's Hospital where she died shortly after being admitted.
The three injured were also rushed to the hospital, two of them with serious injuries, police said.
The seven-year-old boy sustained minor injuries. But the teacher in his 50s has suffered serious head wounds while the five-year-old girl has injuries to her pelvis and arm.
