Jaganmohan Reddy withdraws resignation plea from Delhi HC

New Delhi, Feb 21 (IANS): YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy Friday withdrew his petition from the Delhi High Court that sought its intervention in the acceptance of his resignation as a Lok Sabha member.

The counsel appearing for Reddy told Justice Manmohan that as the Telangana bill was passed, he wants to withdraw the petition from the court. The court allowed him to do so.

The member of parliament put in his papers last year to protest the central government's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh and form a separate Telangana state.

Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy moved the court November 2013 seeking its intervention in acceptance of his resignation as a Lok Sabha member.

The court had asked the YSR Congress chief and MP from Kadapa to personally meet Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar to confirm the "genuine and voluntary" nature of the resignation. He alleged t hat the speaker had rejected the resignation without giving any reason.
