Heroin valued at Rs.10 crore seized in Bihar


Patna, Feb 21 (IANS): Three people were arrested here Friday with heroin valued at Rs.10 crore in the international market, police said.

"Heroin valued at Rs.10 crore in the international market was recovered and three people were arrested from a hotel in Goria Tola locality here," a police official said.

The people were identified as Mohd. Jameer Alam, Ali Thavru and Mohd. Furquan.

Heroin was brought from Manipur by three drug smugglers, including two from Manipur and one from Uttar Pradesh.

"All three were staying in a hotel near Patna Railway Station for the last three days and a team of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) was informed about it. After that they kept a close watch over their activities and arrested them with the heroin," the officer said.

The DRI officials are interrogating them to know more about the racket.

According to police, the heroin consignment was on way to Uttar Pradesh, where it was to be handed over to a person named Mohd. Khalif in Barabanki.
