Four die in Afghanistan terror attack

Kabul, Feb 22 (IANS): A police official and a civilian were killed in a terror attack in Afghanistan's Herat province. Two terrorists were gunned down in the shootout.

Militants attacked the Afghan police security checkpoint Friday night in Obe district, which killed a police officer, a civilian and two militants during the exchange of fire, district Governor Shir Agha Alokozai told Xinhua, adding four militants were injured.

The Taliban insurgent group has intensified attacks since the Afghan army and police took full operational lead from NATO-led troops last year.
