Udupi, May 27: Heavy rains, thunder, lightning and gales have been forecast in the district during the 48 hours beginning Friday, according to Met officials.

The deputy commissioner has instructed the local revenue officials not to leave their workspots and await further instructions regarding rain-related damages.

There was a rainfall of 18.2 mm until Friday morning, but there have no reports of any damages, according to official sources.
