CPI-ML shutdown hits transport in Bihar

Patna, Feb 23 (IANS): Road and train traffic in Bihar was partly hit Sunday during a shutdown called by the CPI-ML to protest against the power tariff and licensing policy for alcohol shops.

Activists of the Communist Party of India-Marxist Leninist squatted on rail tracks, halting several trains, officials said.

Thousands of CPI-ML supporters took to the streets to enforce the general strike.

Road traffic was hit in Patna, Jehanabad, Gaya, Darbhanga and Ara in particular, a police official said. CPI-ML members reportedly blocked both national and state highways, a police officer said.
