Mumbai, May 30: Indian leading man Amitabh Bachchan has worn many a cap in his 30 years as a movie star - he's played cops, gangsters and plain-old ordinary workers.
But his latest film will be the first time he's taken on the character that's long been a standard in films around the world - a lawyer.
Bachchan, among the most popular stars in India, plays a blind lawyer in the soon to be released movie ''Zamaanat,'' or ''Bail,'' newspapers reported.
Bachchan told the Hindustan Times newspaper in an interview that he played a blind lawyer who helps a rich boy-poor girl come together. Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi also stars in the movie.
''It is something different for me because I have never played a lawyer in my entire career,'' Bachchan, who was acted in more than 150 films, was quoted as saying in the newspaper.
The 63-year-old actor underwent surgery for an intestinal ailment in November and returned to work in March. He says his movie projects were initially delayed but work was on track now.
