Third front experiment will prove costly for country: Modi

New Delhi, Mar 2 (PTI): BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today attacked the third front, saying the "experiment" will prove "costly" for the country which needed a government that could take decisions and come up to the people's expectations.

"It is my firm belief that the country is at a decisive stage where such an experiment (of a third front) would prove costly. The country needs a government that can take decisions and come up to the expectations of the people," he told Hindi daily 'Dainik Jagran' in an interview.

Modi said all the parties who are advocating such a front emerged and got established on the basis of anti-Congress politics but were forced to join hands with Congress due to political opportunism at one time or the other.

"And now when there is an anger against Congress in the country, those working towards the third front are in a way actually helping Congress," he said.

Promising to root out corruption by adopting a "zero tolerance" policy towards it, the Gujarat Chief Minister made a veiled attack on the country's top political leadership, saying if they are "themselves corrupt or give their silent approval to corruption due to their own weaknesses, then who will stop it."

He said for curbing corruption, what is need is that the top political leadership should be "credible".

Satyamewa jayate! Trust AAP, vote for AAP. We do not want any developments with corruption. Not even communalism to gain votes. modi & Rahul travel by helicopters spending in 500 crores. Who gave the money?? AAP got only 10 crores despite several requests? BJP CONG has our hard earned money wasting in the election campaign lavishly. Shame on them and commenting on behalf of them!

This is my view too Vincent. This is the most likely scenario that's emerging. Congress with the 3rd front or the 3rd front with the Congress. AAP may also have a role depending on how many seats they can win. There are too many leaders not comfortable with Modi. Jayalalitha is as 'head strong' and 'dominating' as Modi which means they can never agree or work with each other.

Modi wave is actually only a media wave as Kejriwal also said the other day. The day 'big corporate' financing of a section of the media stops that day the wave too will also go fuuuuuuuussssssssssssss

Modi cannot undermine the achievements of 3rd front. In states like T.N, Andhra, Orissa, J&K, Bihar regional parties have delivered on an average. T.N is way far ahead of Gujarat, Lets take the case of Bihar which developed rapidly under JDU and whose growth rate as per sources far exceeded that of Gujarat's.

Modi here represents a party which is not talking of inclusiveness - For example: we all know how Rajnath retracted his statement.

His party's radical right wing extremist ideology is designed to alienate 20-23 percent population- which translates to a whopping 25 plus crore people.

Now,the question is....how can a nation grow and progress when the main ruling party will silently sideline and alienate these people as second class citizens?

Why can't BJP adopt the Singapore Model where people of all ethnicities are treated as equals and where Religion and politics do not mix?

Modi scared too much about third front and he realized he will going to become PM. If congress failed to get a clear majority, third front will form the govt with the help of congress. Modi have no moral right to talk about corruption because recently some corrupt people joined BJP like Singh, Ramulu, Yeddi & Chaddi etc. Still communal is more dangerous than the corruption.
