Sharjah, June 1: The prestigious 'Mayura Prashasthi' presentation and 3rd Anniversary celebration of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah will be held on Friday 2nd June 2006 at Asian Palace Hall, Sharjah.

On this grand occasion the ‘MAYURA PRASHASTI 2006’ will be presented.

This Award, brain child of versatile, colorful and unforgettable social worker Umesh Nanthoor which was instituted by the Sangha when he was the President is being awarded every year to the most deserving Non Resident Kannadigas of the Emirates for their out-standing contribution to the society in various fields.

As per the Press release, Shekar Shetty - an unassuming publicity shy Patron of Kannada cultural activities and Irshad Moodbidri - media shy pleasant natured literary celebrity have been selected for 2006 edition of prestigious Mayura Prashasthi.

Sharjah Karnaatka Sangha a fledgling Karnataka Cultural & Community service forum has been very active not only in organising member friendly cultural activities but also in recognition of unsung and deserving Karnataka cultural ambassadors. The Patron, President and the committee members needs to be complimented for pioneering this feature which is being witnessed by all of us rather proudly and admiringly.

This aspect manifests time and gain in the activities undertaken by this young Sangha.

Befitting the occasion Sangha also will felicitate the media persons who have excelled in their profession by reflecting various activities most colorfully in the Emirates. They are Walter Nandilike – who pioneered web based news (www.daijiworld.com)  Prabhakara Ambalthere – who aired first Kannada Radio (KOD) , Naveen Sequeira- A Kannada Konkani literary & Webmaster (www.maibhas.com) and  Indefatigable and Selfless Sujay Bendore ( Daijiworld.com & Gulfvarthe.com).

Apart form felicitation the programme includes a mixture of variety entertainment and a festive Lunch.
