JMM legislator quits party in dissent

Ranchi, March 7 (IANS): Unhappy with the functioning of the party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) legislator Hemlal Murmu quit the party Friday.

"I have decided to quit JMM. I am not happy with the functioning of the party. A few people are running the party and we are feeling cornered in it," Murmu told reporters here Friday.

He said: "I am not feeling comfortable within the party."

According to sources in the JMM, Murmu was expecting the Lok Sabha ticket from Rajmahal seat but the party decided to field another candidate. Murmu has been a two-time minister in the state and was also Lok Sabha MP from 2004 to 2009.

Asked about fighting the poll and joining any party, he said: "Offers are coming to me from different parties. I will decide about fighting the poll after consultations."
