New Delhi, Jun 2: Late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son, Rahul Mahajan has been admitted to a Delhi hospital with a case of suspected food poisoning.

Rahul and Pramod Mahajan's secretary, Vivek Moitra had consumed some food in Indore, which did not agree with them and both were taken to Apollo Hospital.

Moitra was declared dead on arrival and Rahul Mahajan has been admitted to the ICU and his condition is critical.

The two allegedly ate something that did not agree with them. Vivek Moitra developed complications soon after and Rahul too started feeling uneasy.

This has been the second blow to the Mahajan family this month, especially since Vivek Moitra was Pramod Mahajan's right-hand-man and had been very close to the leader.

Foul play has not been ruled out, especially since the hospital authorities are refusing to confirm the cause of Vivek's death.

However, it is a known fact that Vivek Moitra suffered from heart trouble and high blood pressure, which could have compounded with food poisoning and caused his death.

Gopinath Munde, BJP leader and Pramod Mahajan's brother-in-law, is flying to Delhi from Nagpur to see his nephew.

According to him Rahul's condition is improving but he says he cannot say anything about the conspiracy theory until he reaches Delhi and inquires into the entire incident.

The police also found packets of a mysterious white powder in Rahul’s and Vivek’s pockets.

According to TV reports, Ganesh, one of the domestic servants, is believed to have told the police that the two had been consuming the white powder with glasses of champagne at a party in Delhi last night.

There has been no reaction from Pravin Mahajan and his family.

Maitra was once a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha member and personal secretary to Gopinath Munde, before being appointed Pramod Mahajan’s personal assistant in 1996.
