Gorkha group ties up with BJP for Lok Sabha polls


New Delhi, March 10 (IANS): The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) tied up with the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha elections and will support its candidate from Darjeeling.

"Gorkha Janamukthi Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung has decided to support the BJP in the Lok Sabha polls. I welcome his decision," Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh said here Monday.

In the last Lok Sabha polls, the GJM supported BJP leader Jaswant Singh in Darjeeling, which he represented in the 15th Lok Sabha.

Meanwhile, two former Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) leaders, Chandra Mohan Potwary and Hiten Goswami, also joined the BJP Monday, the party announced.
