Trio held for assaulting IPS officer in Bengal


Kolkata, March 17 (IANS): Three people were arrested and presented before a court Monday for assaulting an IPS officer in West Bengal's North 24 Parganas district, police said.

The trio has been arrested for assaulting Additional Superintendent of Police, Barasat, Bhaskar Mukherjee.

The incident happened in Barasat in the district, some 25 km from Kolkata.

"The accused in an inebriated condition were driving their car dangerously and when we stopped them, they tried to attack us. All of them have been booked for preventing a police officer from discharging his duties. We have presented them before a court," Mukherjee said.
