Congress trying to keep Gujarat riots issue alive: BJP

New Delhi, March 19 (IANS): The BJP Wednesday said the Congress is trying to keep the 2002 Gujarat riots alive because it is "desperate and frustrated".

The comment came a day after External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid raised the 2002 Gujarat violence.

"I don't know of Supreme Court giving clean chit to Modi. A lower court has denied to issue summon to him. It's like a nursery student has scored good marks and thinking himself of a PhD," Khurshid said Tuesday.

Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Prakash Javadekar countered the charge saying Muslims and all sections of the society have left the riots behind in Gujarat, adding that Khurshid used such language in in "desperation".

"In desperation and frustration, Congress' Salman Khurshid is using such language which we condemn," he told reporters Wednesday.

He further said this was a part of Congress' conspiracy to attack (Narendra) Modi who has got a clean chit from the court.

"Hence they are upset and this is what comes out always," he said.

"They want to keep the issue alive because they have nothing else to talk about," he added.

If one of your own loved one was slaughtered to death mercilessly, would you not want the 2002 issue to be closed until justice was fully done ?
Would you also not want the 1984 issue to be closed for the death of your loved one until justice was properly done ?
Would you like it if crimes committed today were just left unresolved after 10 years and the guilty were allowed to go scot free with no proper and complete justice for the victims ?
Why then don't we just close down the investigation agencies and courts ?
I am extremely shocked to hear that in the extreme desperation just to make one particular person the PM, the crime of killing so many innocents in one bloody massacre is being sought to be forgotten just to prevent a political opponent to get benefit from the issue !

I am so certain that the 2002 riots would never have been an issue at all in these elections had the PM candidate of the BJP been anyone other than Modi.

This is the only way left for Congress to survive because,
they cannot claim that, they have controlled the prize rise, corruption, crime, fall of rupee value etc..... When they are unable to do all these in the past 10 years, how we can expect them to do if given another five years chance? Just a Common sense.
