10 killed in election office attack in Kabul


Kabul, March 25 (IANS): At least 10 people were killed and three injured when suspected Taliban militants stormed an Afghan election commission office here Tuesday, a senior official said.

"All five attackers have been killed by police," Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi said.

Five policemen were also killed during the counter-attack, Xinhua reported.

The attackers took control of the office in Darul Aman area, taking all its employees hostage.

Police sealed off access to the area and were trying to ensure the safe release of the hostages.
