Doha, Jun 8: The Primary court on Wednesday awarded death penalty to Filipino national Rolando Stanislaus Bildamin for knifing to death Roselyn Valencia Fernandez, also from the Philippines, in Doha on August 4, 2004.

The incident that shocked the Filipino community in Qatar took place in a flat in the Najma area where the two were said to be staying along with Roselyn’s siblings.

At the time of the murder, Roselyn, who was in her mid-30s, was employed at a perfume outlet. Bildamin was working as an attendant at a gymnasium.

The murder was reportedly a sequel to their falling apart after living together for quite some time.

According to the medical report, Roselyn succumbed to multiple knife injuries she had suffered on her right arm, chest and abdomen.

Roselyn came from San Fernando, the capital of the northern Philippine province of Pampanaga. Bildamin hails from the Ilocos province.
