New Delhi, Jun 8: The Delhi Police on Thursday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Apollo hospital for giving wrong information in the Rahul Mahajan drug abuse case.
Earlier in the day a Delhi court had directed the police to register a case against doctors and management of Apollo Hospital for giving false information to public servants.
Delhi Police Commissioner KK Paul had also said that Apollo Hospital will be charged with tampering and destruction of evidence.
He added the police have sufficient grounds to take action against the hospital.
Meanwhile, late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son, Rahul, was produced at the Patiala House Court on Thursday afternoon.
The Patiala House court had, on Tuesday, remanded Rahul to two days police custody. Police say that Rahul's remand may be extended.
He has been charged with consuming drugs at a party at his father's official residence - 7 Safdarjung Road.
Rahul's lawyers are hopeful that he will be granted bail. They say the fact that there are several discrepancies in the police's theory of what happened on last Thursday night makes Rahul's case stronger.
They also allege that the facts mentioned in the FIR are unclear.
Earlier, Rahul was taken to Capital’s Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for a medical check-up. On his way out of the hospital, Rahul told reporters, "I am innocent. I am very ill."
Meanwhile, police sources say that Sahil Zaroo – the man who allegedly supplied drugs to Rahul and Pramod’s secretary Bibek Maitra - will be taken to Srinagar on Thursday.
The police will also track his telephone records.
