Former Bihar chief minister quits BJP

Patna, March 28 (IANS): Satish Prasad Singh, who served a mere five days as the Bihar chief minister, said Friday he had resign from the BJP, a party to which he switched last year after a long stint in the Congress, to protest against denial of proper representation to the Kushwaha community in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

Satish Prasad Singh, who belongs to the Koeri backward caste, accused the BJP leadership of backtracking on promise to give tickets to seven of his followers.

He said the BJP had given a ticket to only Koeri candidate for the general election.

Satish Kumar Singh was the Bihar chief minister Jan 28-Feb 1, 1968.
