Himachal assembly by-election May 7


Shimla, March 28 (IANS): The by-election for Himachal Pradesh's Sujanpur assembly seat will be held simultaneously with the Lok Sabha election in the state May 7, an official said here Friday.

The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Independent MLA Rajinder Rana, who is now the Congress candidate from the Hamirpur Lok Sabha constituency.

The counting of votes for the assembly seat will be held May 16, the day when counting for the Lok Sabha seats is to be held, chief electoral officer Narinder Chauhan told IANS.

He said polling would take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
