NTPC launches 45 MW solar, 500 MW thermal power


New Delhi, March 31 (IANS): State-run generator NTPC has commenced commercial production of a cumulative 45 MW solar power from three stations, the company said Monday.

NTPC announced the commercial operation effective Monday of three solar photovoltaic power stations - 5 MW at Faridabad, 10 MW at Unchahar and 30 MW at Rajgarh - in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

In a separate filing Monday, the country's largest power generator declared the commercial operation from Sunday of the second unit of 500 MW of the Mouda Super Thermal Power Station in Nagpur district of Maharashtra.

With this, the total commercial capacity of Mouda Super Thermal Power Station has risen to 1,000 MW.

"With the commissioning and commercial declaration of these units, the total capacity of non-conventional energy projects of the company has become 75 MW and the total commissioned and commercial capacity of NTPC group has become 43,019 MW and 41,859 MW, respectively," the company said.

NTPC stock closed Monday at Rs.119.95 a share -- 0.90 points, or 0.74 percent, lower than its previous close on the BSE.
