Indian arrested in Nepal for human trafficking


Kathmandu, April 2 (IANS): An Indian man was arrested Wednesday in Nepal for his alleged involvement in human trafficking in the Himalayan Kingdom.

Ram Krishna Mehta, who runs an inn in Saptari district in eastern Nepal, has been charged with trafficking a 22-year-old woman in Lalpati village development committee (VDC) of the same district, the Republica reported Wednesday.

The woman, hailing from Hetauda town of Makawanpur district in central Nepal, was rescued by the police Sunday, while she was being taken by Mehta to India.

The police said the accused has been lodged at the district police office in Saptari for further investigation.
