Panaji, Jun 12: The police investigating the recent Merces-Chimbel murder are clueless.

The murder accused have not left any clue for the investigating officers to achieve any progress in this direction, according to the police.

Although they have intensified the night patrolling on many roads and strengthened police force in the areas where accused are likely to frequent the place besides checking on motorcylists outskirts of the city like St Cruz, Merces, Agacaim and Old Goa.

A team of police have been dispatched to Kerala after some eyewitnesses deposed before the investigating police officer that the accused might have left for Kerala.

Sources said that even weapons used in committing the murder of Joaquim alias Baghira Pereira could not be recovered.

Meanwhile, the anticipatory bail applied by Mr Pradeep Chawan, a businessman from the city was rejected by the court.

He was summoned by the police as he was found having some links with the car given on hire-purchase basis to the murder accused.

The police are still hunting for all the six persons namely: Ashfaque Bengre, Noor, Nazir Shaikh, Sameer and two other unknown and unidentified persons.
