New Delhi, Jun 12: Embroiled in a drug abuse controversy, Rahul Mahajan was on Monday produced before a special court after the Delhi Police filed a revision petition challenging a Metropolitan Magistrate's power to try the narcotics case.

Special Judge N K Gupta heard arguments on a petition, which said that the bail hearing posted by the Metropolitan Magistrate for Tuesday be heard by the special court.

Co-accused in the case Sahil Zaroo, whose judicial remand ends on Monday, was also produced before the special court.

Maharashtra Police will also be filing an application for transfer of custody of Sahil to them for trial in connection with a Shahtoosh smuggling case pending for the last few months. Sahil is absconding in that case.

Delhi Police had on Sunday filed an application before the Special Judge challenging the powers of a metropolitan court in New Delhi to try the case against Rahul, son of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, and sought its transfer to a special court.

Accepting the application, the special court directed police to produce Rahul, now lodged in Tihar jail, for further hearing on the application.
