Cairo, April 7 (IANS): An Egyptian court Monday upheld jailing three activists to three years for organising protests without permission.
Ahmed Maher, founder of the April 6 Movement, Mohamed Adel, a senior member of the movement, and prominent government critic Ahmed Douma were also fined 50,000 Egyptian pounds ($7,200), Xinhua reported.
The appeal was rejected for the three activists who spearheaded the massive protests that ousted President Hosni Mubarak in 2011.
The controversial law requires protestors to obtain an approval from the government before staging their protests.
