Jammu, Jan 14: Seventy-two people, including children, fell sick and were admitted to various hospitals after consuming ice cream from a vendor here, official sources said.

“As many as 72 children and adults fell ill after consuming Kulfi in Bazigar Colony in Bagh-e-Bahu area of Jammu city and were admitted to GMC and SMGS hospitals here," they said.

They started vomiting and complaining of abdominal pain late last night which created panic in the area and their parents rushed them to hospital around midnight, the sources said.

“All of them are out of danger. Most of such cases were being treated, all possible medical care was being provided to the children admitted in the hospital,” Nazir Ahmed deputy medical superintendent, SMGS hospital told PTI.

The doctors said that out of 72 people who fell sick, 29 children are still undergoing treatment, while the rest have been discharged from hospital.

All the affected children and adults had consumed Kulfi sold by a vendor at Bagh-e-Bahu area, the sources said adding the ice cream seller has been arrested for risking the lives of a large number of people.
