Stop personal attacks on Modi: Jaitley on Priyanka's remarks

Amritsar, Apr 23 (PTI) A day after Priyanka Gandhi said she strongly feels about attacks on her husband Robert Vadra, BJP today said that while she wants people to refrain from personal attacks, Congress has been targeting Narendra Modi on a variety of issues including his marital status.

Agreeing that "personal issues" should not be raked up, BJP leader Arun Jaitley said, "issues of probity are public issues. They are not personal issues." He was apparently referring to allegations relating to land deals against Vadra.

Jaitley said he was glad Priyanka has made a statement on Vadra and "I only hope her immediate family and her party heeds to her advice."

He said Priyanka's friends in the Congress would now hopefully realise that they had personalised their attack on Modi relating to his marital status, the snoopgate issue "without a shred of evidence".

Breaking her silence, Priyanka had yesterday said: "When you watch TV, what do you see? Harsh words, humiliation of my family. A lot of things are said about my husband. I feel pained. I feel pained, not for myself, also not because somebody you are humiliating somebody and the truth is not being told,...

"...everyday I tell my children that the truth will prevail.... I feel pained at the kind of politics that has come to the fore in these elections."

Though she did not name anybody, she was clearly referring to BJP's attack on Vadra. Some BJP leaders have said Vadra would be "in jail" if NDA comes to power.
She said her husband was being used to launch a political attack on her family.

Priyanka didn't stop her husband from wrong doing. Now when someone questions the wrong doings, she is hurt.
Pity on her! She never thought how Modi/yeshoda ben will feel when whole of her family was taunting on the issue.

Of course , political parties should not pull in personal issues. But when an issue of corruption is in public domain, the culprits wife shouldn't cry in public!

I think modi is withstanding personal attack on him from past 12 years, I don't think he needs any support. But the Gandhy family seems to be rattled with in a month. I don't think there is any reason for modi to be nice to the gandhy family.

To all the esteemed ignorant DW commentators, when you fly out next from any airport in India, please read the DGCA guidelines on FRISKING & BAGGAGE CHECK rules & rgulations boards. Only one human being in India other than the mandated High Court, SC, Govt of India Presidents, VP, PM, Governors & CM's, only UPA Chairperson & her DAMAAD - Sh ROBERT VADRA are exempt to both. This means any kind of baggage can be carried by him thruout the country! Why this Kolaveri- di??

Jaitley, Modi started personal attack on any, he needs to stop first, then nobody will attack him as well.
Trying to defend corrupt & criminals is your profession for gain, we won't question it either.
