Kundapur: Two boys drown in Chakra River

Kundapur, May 1: Two boys belonging to Kabbinale village near Hallihole in the taluk drowned while swimming in Kalkere Gundi of Chakra River on Tuesday April 29. The ill-fated victims have been identified as Veerendra (10) and Devendra (18).

Four boys living in the same neighbourhood had together ventured near River Chakra on Tuesday afternoon for taking bath. When they were taking bath and swimming together, the above boys, who did not how to swim, drowned, it is said.

Veerendra was a fourth standard student. Devendra used to work as coolie. They belonged to Araballi in Tumbri village, Sagar, Shimoga district. Veerendra, a fourth standard student, was the son of Manjappa from Araballi. He was on a visit to the house of his maternal gradfather for taking part in a function, and had brought along his neigbour, Devendra, with him.
