Delhi zoo to get another jaguar

New Delhi, May 6 (IANS): A jaguar will join the Delhi zoo next month, an official said Tuesday.

"A male jaguar will be brought from the Thiruvananthapuram zoo in exchange for a female white tiger," National Zoological Park curator R.A. Khan told IANS.

Being summer, special arrangements have been made to transport the animals by air, said Khan, adding that in other seasons they are transported by road.

With this addition, the Delhi zoo will be home to four jaguars, besides the 1,556 different animals and birds that it already shelters.
