Golden State fire coach Jackson

Washington, May 7 (IANS): The Golden State Warriors fired coach Mark Jackson after their NBA team were eliminated by the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference opening round series.

The Warriors lost 121-126 Saturday and 3-4 on aggregate to the Clippers and missed the chance to get into the 'Final Four', reports Xinhua.

Jackson coached the Warriors for three seasons, leading them to a 121-109 record, including 51-31 in the latest season. He guaranteed the Warriors would make the playoffs in his first season, when they finished 23-36 after the NBA labour lockout.

The Warriors went 47-35 last season and had a memorable run to the second round of the playoffs. They were 51-31 this season before losing to the Clippers in the first round.

The Warriors had not made the playoffs in consecutive years since the 1990-91 and 1991-92 seasons. They had made the playoffs once in 17 years before Jackson.
