Pakistan Army violates ceasefire in Jammu

Jammu, May 11 (IANS): Pakistani troops Saturday resorted to unprovoked firing at Indian positions along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, the military said.

"Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire in Nangi Tikri battalion area of Krishna Ghati sector of the LoC in Poonch district...the firing started at 10.35 p.m. yesterday (Saturday). They used small arms and automatics to target our positions," defence spokesman Col. Manish Mehta told IANS Sunday.

"No damage or casualty has been reported on our side," he said.

The violation came on a day the Indian Army killed two guerrillas in the district and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Senior army and intelligence officials alleged that Pakistani troops opened fire along the LoC to give cover to heavily armed separatist guerrillas trying to sneak into Jammu and Kashmir.
