Milan, May 12 (IANS): Chievo made sure of their survival in the Italian Serie A with a crucial 1-0 win against Cagliari while Catania, Bologna and Livorno were condemned to relegation.
Dario Dainelli scored in the 72nd minute to earn Chievo the win over Cagliari Sunday and ensured Eugenio Corini's men of their stay in the Italian top flight next season, reports Xinhua.
Sassuolo also secured their survival as they beat Genoa 4-2 at home.
Catania notched a 2-1 win at Bologna as both sides were demoted to the second division.
Livorno, winners of the Serie B play-offs last season, were sent back to the second flight following a 0-1 home loss to Fiorentina.
