Kundapur, May 14: The Lokayukta police arrested a revenue inspector from Byndoor in the taluk named Santosh on charges of demanding and  accepting bribe for attending to his duty.

It is said that Santosh had demanded for a bribe of Rs 25,000 from a person named Chacko TC from Mudoor village near Byndoor. Chacko had applied for changing the Khata relating to 1.65 acres of agricultural land owned by him in his village. After Chacko expressed his inability to pay so much amount, the revenue inspector reportedly agreed to reduce the amount of bribe to Rs 12,000.

Chacko thereafter complained to the Lokayukta. The Lokayukta police nabbed the revenue inspector when accepting the bribe on Tuesday May 13. He was thereafter produced in the court.

The raid was conducted by Lokayukta police inspector, Mohan Kottary, with the help of his subordinates, under the guidance of Udupi Lokayukta deputy superintendent of police, Umesh G Shet.

This is not the only case. when we go to obtain the original birth certificate they want the Money They send to document writer. he doesnt do anything without prepayment and in the Office also same.this dirty Business of receiving bribe has spread like an infection everywhere. sometimes the amount they demand is too much.when they come to know that the Person is working in foreign Country then it is four times more.normal Person can not go to a quick Job done. It takes a Long time .three times at least you have to go up and down.disgusting.I just don't know why the documents cant be quickly done in Offices instead of going to an extra document writer.why cant they are in same Offices.like birth certificate can be quickly on Computer copied and signed there in Office with stamp.Even today in India certain things are the same as in ancient times Never changed and These People are taking Advantage of this ,making People cry.

Every Village accountant is a chor and behaves like he is above the law. This bribe goes to all his superiors. if revenue inspector/Thasilder are honest you think a small fry like VA will have the courage to ask for the bribe. he will be dismissed from the service. Our congress govt had promised clean govt. after getting elected they are showing their tru colours.

It is just the tip of the iceberg. If Lokayukta is keen to clean up the mess, then every VA/RI and their body upwards is in this. They can raid everyone, or at least ask for dis-proportionate assets.

Even today, while registering land, we give a hefty non-receipt amount to the document writer, who s the money in the registry office table drawers. A CCTV will say it all.

When the paper comes to VA for khata change, the VA and the RI demand money. If this website permits me to name the RIs, I shall.

If we do not give, then there is no possibility of getting the papers done, because the law has clauses such as :
    1. non agriculturist can't buy agri land.
2.person holding a job whose income is above x annually can't buy agri land,
3.property value (registration value) in the registry office is far below the market value. If one goes by the market value, one ends up paying lot more registration fee,
4.the seller doesn't want to pay tax, so won't deal with you if you are talking o only white money.
5.Nobody is interested to talk to you or deal with you, if you try to satisfy government clauses.

Let us first start amending the irrelevant, unrealistic clauses. Then the citizen is empowered not to pay the bribe. At present, it looks like the rules are meant for bribe.

Can we citizens form forum and work towards streamlining this? Are daiji readers game?
