Kundapur: Girl dies after mistakenly consuming insecticide

Kundapur, May 15: In a tragic incident which occurred near Byndoor in the taluk, a lady, who mistakenly consumed insecticide instead of a medicine prescribed for her fever, lost her life on Wednesday May 14.

Jayalaxmi (20), from Duggayyanana Mane in Taggarse village near Byndoor, was suffering from fever. On May 11, she had consumed insecticide accidentally, thinking it to be her medicine. As she started suffering from unbearable burning sensation in the stomach, she was admitted into a private hospital in the town. Thereafter, she was shifted to KMC Hospital in Manipal for advanced treatment.

The lady, who did not positively respond to treatments, died on Wednesday. A report in this connection was filed in Byndoor police station on the basis of a complaint filed by the father of the deceased, Srinivas Sheregar.
