Bantwal, Jun 30: The main road connecting the town with Moodbidri was blocked on Friday June 30 morning following landslide at Kallagudde near SVS College here on Thursday June 29 night.
The landslide occurred around 10 pm on Thursday owing to incessant rains in the taluk in the last couple of days. A small hillock beside the Bantwal-Moodbidri road slid in the night blocking traffic on the road. A big queue of vehicles on the either side of the spot of landslide was seen on Friday morning.
None of the vehicles are plying on the road from Thursday night itself. On Friday employees and students going to and coming from Moodbidri were into all sorts of troubles. Nealry 500 loads of mud has fallen on the road.
Right now traffic has been diverted. While vehicles going to Moodbidri from the city are going via Mugdalkatte-Nityanandnagar, the vehicles coming to the city are using Lorettopadav-Agrar to road to reach town.
Tahsildar Shridhar Subraya Achar, town council president Dinesh Bhandary and others have reached the place and are directing the clearing of road for public use. Four families have been shifted from the place following the landslide.
